October 8 & 9, 2013: The PPC2000 Annual Awards and Conference

This year the PPC/TPC Conference and Awards Ceremony were held at Savill Court Hotel and Spa, Great Windsor Park, Surrey on October 8th & 9th. The theme of the conference was ‘Stimulating Recovery: Combining Savings with Added Value’. The conference Keynote Speaker was Peter Hansford, Chief Construction Adviser and there were many valuable and stimulating talks and workshops as ever, including contributions from Andrew Butt of the Cabinet Office and partnering Godfather David Mosey.

As usual the awards ceremony was held before a gala dinner on the Monday evening with the full conference following the next day. The awards, PPC/TPC Annual Award for a Case Study or Research Paper demonstrating Innovation in Partnering Using PPC2000 & TPC2005, were sponsored by the Amicus Horizon, Association of Consultant Architects, Cameron Consulting, MITIE, Mulalley, PML Group, Rider Levett Bucknall, Savills, Trowers & Hamlins, United House, Vinci Facilities and Wates.

With an increased number of entries, the awards were hotly contested. Following a review of all entries by Shane Hughes, Chair of the steering group, presentations were made by Alison Low, Secretary General of the ACA. The overall award for Innovation went to the Ministry of Justice, with highly commended runners up, Ascham Energy Partnership. Walsall Housing Group (Wates Living Space) was the winner of the PPC2000 Award and Maudsley Charity were highly commended. The TPC2005 Award went to  Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd with a partnering team also including Lovell, EWE, GM Jones, Falconer Electricals and Travis Perkins. There were three highly commended projects in this class, Golding Homes (Mitie), United Welsh (Mears) and Futures Housing Group with project partners Elite Construction CNR Ltd, Clearfirst Services Ltd, Joe Brown Contractors Ltd and Travis Perkins.
