Andy trained at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in the late 1960s and ran his own practice in West London from 1973 to 1979, when with Michael Manser he founded what is now The Manser Practice, working in Hammersmith.

He completed a Town Planning degree from the University of the West of England by Distance Learning in 1997 and won the Grimley Prize for a
paper on ConservationAreas in 1995.

He was elected as a full ACA Council member in 1992, was President of the ACA from 2001- 2003, and is now Chairman of the Planning Action Group. He represents the ACA on the National Planning Forum and London Planning
and Development Forum, and was part of the Householder Development
Consents Review group for the ODPM (now DCLG), which reported at length on
proposals to re-write the permitted development rules (subsequently abandoned).

Andy now works from home in Kingston, mainly as a consultant Town Planner, dealing with planning applications and appeals. He specialises in changes of use and smaller projects often involving permitted development and is currently an advisor to the Ham & Petersham Neighbourhood Forum.”
